"Academic Success"” – Center for Academic & Professional EnrichmentDr. Marybeth Boger will discuss how you, your student and NJIT can work together to help your student succeed academically. Learn about NJIT’s academic expectations and challenges, and the many resources available to assist your student academically. "Making the Transition" – Center for First Year StudentsDr. Sharon Morgan will discuss some of the various concerns that your student may be experiencing while adjusting to college life at NJIT, and will offer suggestions and resources to assist them with their transition to college. Bring your questions! "Community Connections" – Office of the ProvostDr. Judith Redling will discuss the mission and structure of our learning community program and intended positive impact on student academic success. Note that nationally, Learning Communities such as NJIT’s Community Connections are positively linked with higher grades and greater overall satisfaction with college experience. Regular admit students (non-Honors, non-EOP, non-APT) in the following majors are enrolled in the Community Connections program: Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Business, and International Business. |
After Orientation, stay with us for our annual NJIT DAY activities in which students, staff, faculty, alumni and families come together to celebrate NJIT!

- During Family Orientation, your student can spend time with their younger siblings with our “Sibling Rivalry” activities in the Game Room.
- Watch as teams of students wearing kilts and face paint compete in the hilarious Highlander Games! Activities include cart races, caber toss, Hungry Highlander and more!
- Got Chili? You can compete in the Young Alumni Association’s Annual Chili Cook-Off, call the Alumni Office at 973-596-3441 or email alumni@njit.edu for more info and to register. You can also sample the chili and vote for your favorite!
- Cheer on NJIT’s Women’s Volleyball Team as they play Chicago State!
- Be one of the first to view the NJIT public opening of the Daniel Henderson sculpture exhibit “The Art of Innovation”.
